How To Choose The Best Mechanic Near Me?
When it comes to choosing a trustworthy mechanic, it’s almost like looking for a good doctor. But how do you find a good mechanic that will give you the best results while avoiding scams.
What you need from a mechanic is to accomplish his mission in no time, with affordable prices, conduct periodic maintenance, and have ethics.
Here is how to find reliable auto service in your area:
Ask Google
You probably don’t have years of experience of knowing most of the mechanics near you or the ability to compare between all of them. This may be your first vehicle and your first vehicle periodic maintenance or your first engine misfire. After asking your neighbors and friends they may recommend many names, this could be confusing. How to know who is the best with the most affordable prices while still being trustworthy?
It’s simple! Make your search!
A quick Google search will give you all the mechanics near you, you can scroll and read reviews from happy and disappointed customers. This feedback will give you a clear idea of how these repair shops stack up.
Is the Mechanic certified?
Don’t depend only on your acquaintances’ experience and online reviews. Check your potential mechanic is certified. You can check ASA’s or AAA‘s website to see certifications.
Check the parking lot:
After conducting a deep dive and choosing your potential mechanic, check his parking lot. If his parking lot is empty, then it might be because this mechanic isn’t well known for his automotive repair services. Also, the parking lot might give an idea of what vehicles he is specialized in. Another point to inspect, is this is a safe parking lot area to leave my vehicle in?
Choose a mechanic who is specialized in your car type.
Choosing a specialized and well-experienced mechanic in your vehicle’s type or brand will save you time and labor work hours cost.
Give them a tryout.
Before trusting a mechanic you may give them a try. Ask for inspection or periodic maintenance like changing the oil or changing tires. Use your common sense, do you think you can trust this mechanic? Did you feel comfortable using their services? Then go ahead make this your permanent mechanic.
How to know if this mechanic is trustworthy?
If a mechanic doesn’t give you or let you see old replaced parts then there is something fishy. Some unworthy mechanics use scare tactics to confuse you into making fast decisions like your engine is collapsing, or it’s dangerous to drive this vehicle. Moreover, unworthy mechanics will not give you a clear estimated maintenance bill or a definite time to finish the job.
In addition, you need to check warranties. A trustworthy mechanic will always give you warranty.
Again use your common sense, to tell if there is something wrong. You can always ask for another opinion.
